That's why We're not DJs
Thursday, October 24, Kaņepes Kultūras Center, 21.00
To warm up the closing concert of 2ANNAS on October 26th Kaņepes Culture Centre will present a beatmaker demonstrations designed to show how different are beatmaker and electronic music live performances from the usual DJ practice. By communicating with audience face to face with the possibility to experience a live performance process, the DDA musicians will answer the question of why we are not DJ.
OHMTEK
OHMTEK has been infatuated with electronic music for about five or six years. It all began with him creating music on his computer and experimenting with the circuit-bending technique. Basically, it is a physical interference into such electronic devices as kids’ synthesizer and various other electronic and sound-making toys.
181h (Dirty Loops)
181h is one half of the producers/beat-makers of the Dirty Loops union
For the most part, the analogue sound of 181h is translated as a particularly deep bass, ''crunchy'' drum loops, record samples and a rocking rhythm that gains recognition among the connoisseurs of the genre and even makes them move along when the 181h touches the MPC buttons.
Tablis
For several years he has been a patriot of hip-hop and an admirer of culture. He is also a fan of the analogue sound and a carrier of the musical liveliness.
Tablis, one of the Latvian beat-makers, has one of the most distinctive sounds. His music blends together as a whole, creating a "crunchy" drum loop, a "warm" sample and bass stereo sceneries.
