Blackwood story

Lauris Ābele ended his LKA Master's course in 2011. This short film is based on the story of Ralph C. Kokin with the same name and motives, and has never seen a public show outside of school premises. "Blackwood story" is a mysterious tale inspired by the phenomena of the North Kurzeme forest as a "leader", due to which many people are caught in the woods and bogs of Latvia, and the mysterious "devils boats". The daily routine of the two foresters is stopped by an unexpected event, as a result of which they have to leave their comfort zone and get to know the dark and unknown side of the North Kurzeme forest.

The short film is a joint work of all three brothers - the second director is Raitis Ābele and the operator Mārcis Ābele. Computer designers Aigars Gercans and Arnis Hagendorf are responsible for forest scenes. The main roles are played by Marta Grase and Kaspars Gods.
