International young creators short film festival "2 Annas" is independent film and audiovisual arts festival seeking for young talents and innovative ways of visual communication all around the world.

"2 Annas" will take place May 25 – 28, 2006, Riga, Latvia.

2 Annas are having birthday party and they are looking at the world with children’s eyes. Happy Annas are playing, as well as film creators do creating their own world. And they who wish to be more happy can play as well. The organizers invite everybody to look inside oneself, resurrect and once again see the world with children’s eyes.

The festival will start with Happy Annas playing in the Riga city centre, for example there will be Mobile sauna, opened and tried out by the festival organizers. In the Latvian tradition sauna has always been connected with inner and external purification, some kind of transformation. For ancient Latvians sauna was a symbolic purgatory and birth giving place.

2Annas looks at the world with child eyes. Watches films and plays. Plays when creates films, plays with surrounding space, time, objects. On 24th of May Annas will play in the Vermane garden together with movement theatre "Laboratory of Stage Arts" and other artists.

This year celebrating festivals’ 10th anniversary we chose the festival slogan "Happy Annas".

    There are 2 competition programmes this year:

  • "2 Annas" international competition programme – all creators aged 18 to 28 are welcome to submit works;
  • "Green Anna" – for young film creators aged until 18 years

    In addition to competition programmes there will be such activities:

  • The retrospection of award winning works from all festival years;
  • Nordic short film programme;
  • Photography exhibition;
  • Filmu programma "Next film"

Annas will play in the Vermane garden, and such activities will take place:

  • Mobile Sauna ("PonijPirts");
  • Performative theatre;
  • DJ and VJ performance;

There will be a lecture within the festival "Vertical + horizontal unlimited: The emerging forms of new cinematic experience" by Kenneth Hansen (Denmark).

Films of competition programmes will be judged by international jury. In different nominations statues of Anna, diplomas, mass media prize and consolation prizes will be awarded. Films will compete for Grand Prix and special prize of 2006 – Happiest Film.
